Fox Bright

I teach technology at Appleby College and work with students and teachers on bringing design, technology, making, and AI into teaching and learning.

Most of my days are spent in a design and technology workshop: 3D printers, a laser cutter, a CNC router, a vacuum former, a lot of Fusion, and lately a lot of questions about what AI is for in a classroom. This site is where I write down what works, what doesn't, and the projects my students take on.

I am currently studying in Western's Ed.D. program in Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging. It shapes how I think about who a workshop is built for, who gets to feel like a maker, and what it takes to design a room where everyone belongs.

Outside the workshop I love biking. In 2026 I took my bike to Japan and rode the Shimanami Kaido, the route that hops across the islands of the Seto Inland Sea between Onomichi and Imabari, bridge after bridge, with the sea on both sides.

I believe in designing our environment for people first: not for cars, and not for corporations. It is the same idea I try to teach in every project. Start with the person who has to live with the thing you make.

Better than a thousand hollow words is one word that brings peace.
